Happy New Year!
2012 was a challenging growing season for farmers and gardeners here in Northwest Michigan, but thanks to our members, lots of hard work, and some creativity; Peak Season CSA’s gardens and orchards produced respectably last year.
With 2012 behind us, we are looking forward to the 2013 growing season, and are making seed orders for the upcoming Spring planting. We are planning on planting many of our traditional staples, and will also be exploring some new varieties and plants for the amusement of our gardeners and members, including Chioggia striped beets, Purple Majesty potatoes, and Black Krim tomatoes. We will also be planting many more strawberry plants and raspberry canes in the spring, which should both increase our berry production and extend the length of our season.
As we continue to plan for next spring, we are open to the suggestions of past, current, and future CSA members for what you would like to see more of and what you might want us to hold back on in the future.
